DO YOU WANT A BETTER WORLD?
This site is dedicated to bringing together people of the world who long to live in symbiosis with our Earth instead of slowly destroying it. This is a call for brothers and sisters to come together and live a concious life in harmony with Mother Earth.
MAIN GOAL (contained in the hearts of many)
The main goal is to acquire a significant area of land, owned both privately and/or communally, where people have the similar desire to create a permaculture atmosphere in which to grow the majority of their food and to strive to live life in a way that does not destroy the Earth. If people like this could live in one area (you know who you are!) then many advantages would result.......
ABUNDANCE OF A LARGE VARIETY OF FOOD
Eating a raw plant based diet is very conducive to living in a sustainable way, since heavy farm machinery, energy resources, pollution, and cooking energy can be eliminated. Permaculture requires minimal maintenance and does not require anywhere near the energy resources needed for raising and processing a grain based or typical meat based diet. Permaculture and vegetable gardens can easily supply the vast majority of the food for a raw diet .
By having neighbors with similar goals, there would be a huge variety of food available to trade with each other...and we wouldn't have to rely on fossil fuels to get it to us. Food taken care of, we can enjoy it and get on with other aspects of life.
LAND PRESERVATION
Another advantage is being able to preserve a large area of land from the "machine". Its good to know your neighbors are not going to cut down all their trees and put in a trailer park or gasoline station.
YOU DECIDE HOW TO RUN YOUE LIFE!
The aim is to be a purely democratic venture. There are no "leaders" or egos to try to control what people do. I have faith in the basic goodness of people that already want to live a sustainable, harmonious existance with our planet. These types of people don't need a shepherd.
NOT A FORCED COMMUNITY
It is very desirable for community to evolve naturally with no forced or required participation. If a bunch of people that want to raise their own food and live sustainably with the Earth are located in a general area, a community will naturally evolve. THE POINT IS TO LET SOMETHING HAPPEN THAT PEOPLE WANT TO HAPPEN IN THEIR HEARTS...NOT TO FORCE SOMETHING INTO EXISTANCE!
YOU HOLD LEGAL TITLE TO YOUR PARCEL IF YOU WISH
People are encouraged to hold legal title to their own parcel for security and piece of mind , however a good amount of land can also be communal. Environmental easements can protect the land from development.
THE ENERGY WILL BUILD
The energy of such a place will build on itself and spread out to the world. Many more people are waking up to the ever more obvious fact that humans need to find a better way to live. The way we are going now is literally a dead end. Why wait for everything to go down the tubes more than it already has before we do something about it? I know many other people also feel the same way. If many spread-out voices merge together in one area a big loud voice will be created for the world to hear.
A large group could demonstrate to the world that an Earth friendly lifestyle is a win-win situation and is not only practical, but far more preferable to a typical destructive and globally unhealthy way of life.

DEVELOPMENT ISSUES (to be decided democratically at the FORUM)
Flexability and freedom of choice is the key to making this work. What do you want???
1. Land: Undecided so far. This depends on peoples' preferences and how much money we could come up with. The only prerequisite is that it must be a place where sub/tropical fruit like mangos and avocados will grow. This is a climate most conducive for humans living sustainably with our earth. So far Costa Rica, Hawaii, Belize, Puerto Rico, Thailand, etc have have been talked about, but it is not decided. Feel free to post your suggestions at the forum. We need your input!
2. Ownership: Some people may prefer to own their own parcel for security/privacy reasons and others may want to go in on communally owned land.
3. Conservation easments and bylaws: These are legal agreements concerned mainly with protecting the land and insuring the land is kept in ownership of people with similar goals.
4. Money: Yes, we need it to buy land! Here is the update on the current tentative pledges (as of 7-31-2001):

Once we determine how much money can be pooled, it will be easier to decide what land to purchase.
